We seek to expand our Affiliates' number of clients through our complementary Global Distribution platform, which focuses on serving clients in channels and jurisdictions that can benefit from scale resources. We also support our Affiliates in their efforts to provide superior investment performance in a framework of the highest quality fiduciary standards. As always, the way we build long-term relationships with our Affiliates' current and future clients is to communicate with them in an open, honest way.

OMAM is a global, diversified multi-boutique asset management holding company that combines the investment talent and entrepreneurialism of leading investment asset management boutiques with the resources and capabilities of a larger firm to seek to accelerate growth across our business. Our partnership approach with our Affiliates aligns incentives for long-term growth. We work collaboratively with Affiliates to seek to enhance and expand their businesses, while enabling them to continue to focus on their goal of delivering superior investment performance and client service.

A central theme in the investment landscape in recent years has been the growing focus on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors and how they can influence or affect investment decisions. We at OMAM have been working with our Affiliates to ensure they have the appropriate resources to respond to their clients' needs on ESG, as well as proactively reach out to them with regard to ESG industry trends.

As a multi-boutique holding company, OMAM leaves the integration of ESG factors in the investment process up to each Affiliate, consistent with their individual view of ESG and the needs of their clients. We believe it is important to recognize that ESG factors can be integrated differently depending on the asset class, investment process and client guidelines of each Affiliate.

OMAM does however have the following beliefs when it comes to ESG factors:

  1. ESG factors will increasingly become integrated, or blended, into most investment processes. This not only reflects a growing demand by institutional clients and their consultants, but also the greater availability of robust data sets that incorporate ESG factors to facilitate quantitative analysis by asset management professionals (e.g. MSCI, Morningstar, Sustainalytics).
  2. ESG itself is a broad term that encompasses, but is not limited to, ethical or exclusion-based investing. While some institutions will at times continue to require that their asset managers integrate a specific list of exclusions or guidelines to match plan or scheme requirements, a much greater number of institutions will instead demand tangible evidence that ESG factors have been accounted for, to the extent possible, in the investment process and that these factors have the potential to add value to the stated mandate.
  3. ESG awareness will follow the global trends in the asset management industry. It is likely, in our view, that institutional asset managers who grow their client base in markets where ESG factors carry the most weight, such as Western Europe or Australia, will come to be recognized as leaders in their integration of ESG into their traditional investment process, thereby potentially gaining an additional source of competitive advantage globally.

Finally, OMAM also recognizes that as a multi-boutique holding company, we are neither asset owners nor asset managers in a direct manner. As such, our ability to integrate ESG factors directly is constrained. OMAM has instituted a set of Responsible Business principles, however, and has established an ESG Committee as a part of that effort. We therefore pledge that OMAM will continue to monitor the trends in the ESG landscape, and participate, as appropriate, in the industry forums where our involvement can enhance our Affiliates' understanding and integration of ESG into their investment processes, where appropriate, and consistent with the needs of their clients.

Monitoring Employee Views & Company Culture

OMAM runs a company-wide annual survey which invites employees to share their view on the culture within the organization. The survey helps us to understand the values and behaviors our employees experience at work. We then use the survey responses to continuously evaluate and align our corporate talent policies and initiatives, to ensure that they are aligned with key elements of our employees' desired culture.

Increasing diversity

We are committed to increasing diversity throughout OMAM and believe the different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of our employees are a great asset. Our policies ensure that no employee receives less favorable treatment on grounds of their gender, age, sexual orientation, race, disability, religion, or any other factor unrelated to the requirements of their position.

Wellness & Resources at Work

It is imperative that as a business we promote the development, empowerment and wellbeing of our employees so as to create a culture within which our talent can flourish. We are focused on providing our employees with a holistic approach to wellness programs and resources. In addition to programs at our Head Office, we collaborate with Affiliates to share activities and consult on alternatives that may better fit their respective cultures. We will continue to develop our wellbeing program for employees, reflecting their interests and needs.

We understand that we have a broader responsibility to strengthen the society of which we are part. Our long-term success is closely connected to being part of, and being trusted by, our local communities. We support these communities through both monetary donations and through volunteering our time, skills, and expertise.

At OMAM we encourage engagement with our communities and employee volunteering. We support and invest in a range of areas, but our four focus areas are Community/Culture, Education, Health Care, and Homelessness.

Overview of Giving

Company Giving

The OMAM Charitable Foundation (or "The Foundation") grants a meaningful portion of our earnings to support local partnerships, community and culture events, and OMAM's Matching Gift Program.

Employee Giving

OMAM encourages its employees to take part in their community. The Foundation supports employee-based community service opportunities through grants to charitable organizations that employees are personally involved with and that meet non-profit 501(c)(3) status.

Matching Gift Program

OMAM considers the matching gift program to be an extension of corporate philanthropy and the Foundation matches donations made by employees to a wide range of nonprofits that meet non-profit 501(c)(3) status.

Community Involvement

OMAM supports our local community through a variety of volunteer opportunities, including:

  • Jeans Days – OMAM employees donate to 501(c)(3) charities of their choice and in return, are able to wear jeans on Fridays.
  • Paid Volunteer Day – OMAM allows employees one paid day off, annually, to volunteer at a charity of their choice.
  • JPMorgan Corporate Challenge – OMAM supports employees who lace up to support this annual event.
  • Cradles to Crayons – OMAM employees volunteer at the Annual Backpack-a-Thon on City Hall Plaza and the Cradles Warehouse Volunteer Day.
  • Posse Foundation – OMAM supports Posse by participating in the annual evaluation of potential Posse scholars, by hiring scholars as summer interns, and at a number of Posse alumni events.
  • Rosie's Place – OMAM participates in lunch service at Rosie's on an annual basis and supports Rosie's "Funny Women, Serious Business" Luncheon and the "Safe and Sound" gala.

Cradles to Crayons

Cradles to Crayons was founded in 2002 with the mission of providing children from birth to age 12 in low-income and homeless situations with the essential items they need to thrive at home, at school, and at play. Cradles to Crayons connects those who have with those in need to supply high-quality used or new goods that make children feel valued. OMAM has partnered with Cradles to Crayons since 2009, and OMAM employees regularly volunteer with the organization. Throughout the year, employees volunteer at the Giving Factory, sorting and distributing donations, and annually participate in the Back-Pack-a-Thon, equipping backpacks with school supplies for children. Rosie's Place

Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States with the mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives. Today, Rosie's Place not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for 12,000 women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. OMAM’s long standing partnership with Rosie's Place began in 2005. OMAM continues to strengthen its impact on this organization by participating in an annual volunteer week at the Rosie's Place dining room, supporting the annual Safe and Sound Gala, and donating various goods for the classroom and kitchen. http://www.rosiesplace.org/

The Posse Foundation

Founded in 1989, The Posse Foundation is a college access and youth leadership development program that identifies, recruits, and selects student leaders from public high schools and sends them in groups, or "Posses," to some of the top colleges and universities in the country. A Posse is a multicultural team made up of ten students that acts as a support system to ensure that each Posse scholar succeeds and graduates from college. Posse scholars receive four-year, full tuition leadership scholarships from Posse partner colleges and universities. OMAM began its partnership with Posse in 2009 and continues to support the organization by providing internships, career coaching, and volunteering at Posse events. OMAM has representation on the Posse Boston Advisory Board and the Posse Leadership Counsel. www.possefoundation.org

Environmental Management

Helping to monitor, manage, and reduce our direct and indirect environmental impacts.

Our Carbon Reduction Task Force, made up of a cross-functional team with representatives from across our business, is responsible for coordinating activity and employee engagement pertaining to environmental management. The Task Force developed a program for promoting sustainability, and helped identify ways for employees to reduce their carbon footprint, both at work and at home. Our biggest direct environmental impact is through the buildings that we use. We therefore work hard to improve their environmental performance by refitting existing units and building or leasing more environmentally friendly new ones.
